Jason Goodwin began his nursing career as a Navy Nurse Corps Officer in 2002, deploying in 2003 with the U.S. Marines during Operation Iraqi Freedom, performing primary surgical trauma care on the frontlines of battle. His service finished at the rank of Lieutenant, being awarded the Presidential Unit Citation and 3 Naval Achievement Medals.
Serving in numerous perioperative leadership roles, Jason worked with Kaiser Permanente, UC Davis Medical Center, Vizient, and most recently at Sutter Roseville Medical Center, as the Assistant Administrator of Procedural Services. Jason has numerous years of experience with regulatory issues, quality and safety, evidence-based care, and nursing administration.
Jason holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Southern California as well as a master’s degree in public health and a Master of Science in nursing from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Melanie Scott began her nursing career as an Operating Room Nurse in 1995 where she was trained to both scrub and circulate all types of surgical specialties on the frontlines of a large Academic Institution and Level I Trauma Center in Dallas, Texas. Serving in numerous perioperative leadership roles, Ms. Scott became Director of Surgical Services in 2005.
In 2010, Ms. Scott began her career as a Subject Matter Expert for Perioperative Services and Consultant specializing in Performance and Process Improvement, Quality and Safety, Compliance, Efficiency, Mentoring, and Interim Leadership including her current role as Interim Director of Surgical Services at OU Health in Oklahoma City, OK. Having had boots on the ground in Surgical Services at more than 42 facilities ranging from small critical access hospitals to large Academic Institutions, Ms. Scott has had numerous years of experience with regulatory issues at every level. In addition, Ms. Scott has worked with Consulting firms as a Subject Matter Expert. Ms. Scott has reviewed and opined on malpractice lawsuits.
Ms. Scott holds a Master of Science in Nursing with specialization in Leadership and Management and lives near her adult Son, Daughter and Son-in-Law and 2 Grandsons Archer 6, and Beau 1.

Romagnia’s journey in nursing began in 2001, where she dedicated herself to the care of patients with diverse medical needs at a bustling community hospital in Northern New Jersey. Seeking growth and new challenges, she transitioned to become an Operating Room Nurse in South New Jersey.
Driven by a passion for excellence, Mrs. Hill then embarked on a remarkable tenure at the prestigious level 1 trauma center in Pennsylvania. In this dynamic environment, she assumed various pivotal roles including Operating Room Nurse, Resource Team Nurse, Epic Optime Credentialed Educator, Preceptor, and Charge Nurse.
Beyond her daily responsibilities, Mrs. Hill's commitment to nursing excellence extended to a national level. In 2016, Mrs. Hill has contributed her expertise to the Competency Credentialing Institute (CCI), helping write CNOR exams. She also contributed to publication in ethical and legal dimensions of our evolving healthcare landscape. In February 2024, Mrs. Hill was honored with the opportunity from AORN/CineMed to be a subject matter expert, in demonstrating best practices in their standardized films.
Yet, Mrs. Hill's vision transcends the confines of the Operating Room. Recognizing the financial challenges faced by her fellow nurses, she is pioneering a program to align nurses’ beliefs and values with their financial goals, by educating nurses on how to start saving early to secure their financial future.
Mrs. Hill holds an Associate Degree in Applied Sciences, a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and a Master of Science in Nursing Informatics. Beyond her professional endeavors, Mrs. Hill finds solace and strength in her faith and family. Married to her husband for 27 years, she is the proud mother of three sons.

Hannah Shufeldt began her nursing career as a staff nurse on a high-risk cardiology unit in 2018. She transitioned shortly after into the cardiovascular operating room (CVOR), where she found her passion for perioperative nursing as a circulating and scrub nurse. Her dedication to perioperative nursing allowed her the opportunity to advance into leadership as an operating room nurse manager where she has overseen both the CVOR and the general operating room. Hannah currently works at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health System, where she is a director of procedural services overseeing multiple departments.
Hannah received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Healthcare Management both from Southeast Missouri State University. She completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
Dr. Shufeldt is an active member of AORN and volunteers her time on the AORN Global Surgical Conference Education Committee. She also volunteers with the Competency and Credentialing Institute to assist in writing exam questions for perioperative nurses.

Leticia Sandoval-Garcia embarked on her professional journey as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, accumulating 19 years of experience. Later, she pursued further education, earning her nursing degree in 2011, marking the beginning of her nursing career. Initially, she served as a clinical staff nurse in psychiatric nursing before transitioning to home health care, where her dedication led to a swift promotion to the role of Clinical Supervisor.
Sandoval-Garcia then explored perioperative services, excelling as both a circulator RN and scrub RN. Her involvement extended to leadership and quality assurance, assuming roles such as charge nurse and contributing to a cardiovascular team. In perioperative services, she also took on responsibilities as a mentor and preceptor for nurses and scrub techs. Notably, she served as an interim Director of Nursing for a surgical center.
With a recent stint as a staff nurse in Med-Surg, Sandoval-Garcia currently holds the position of Clinical Supervisor RN in home care. Her extensive professional journey includes roles at reputable institutions such as Centura Health, Kaiser Permanente, University of New Mexico, and UC Health. She brings a wealth of experience in regulatory compliance, safety, and evidence-based care.
As the President of Sandoval-Garcia LNC, Mrs. Sandoval-Garcia is dedicated to applying her expertise in legal nurse consulting. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Grand Canyon University and is actively pursuing her Master of Nursing with an Emphasis in Leadership in Health Care Systems.
Beyond her professional achievements, Mrs. Sandoval-Garcia shares a fulfilling personal life with her husband Rich, celebrating 25 years together. They have raised grown children and are proud grandparents to five grandchildren.

Jaime Pierstorff has had a lifelong passion for helping others that began when she was a child helping with a disabled grandparent. Jaime has been a registered nurse for over 20 years. She earned her Registered Nurse Certification while attending Polk State College - a local college near her hometown. During her nursing school, she started her healthcare career as a patient care technician at Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center – one of several local hospitals. After graduation. she went on to be a nurse in the emergency room of the same hospital. During her career, Jaime has worked in a variety of health care settings including several hospitals – Heart of Florida, Winter Haven Hospital, Lake Wales Medical Center, Lakeland Regional, & Advent Health Sebring; Advent Health home health agency & same day surgery centers; and online as a case manager for Humana. Jaime is known for promoting evidence-based practice while still considering the individual needs of her patients.
Jaime holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Western Governors University as well as a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders from the University of Central Florida. She has been married to her husband Bill for 28 years and they have two boys, Timothy 19 and Caleb 15. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities with her family, reading, and travel.

As a Perinatal nurse, Lisa has personally participated in the safe care of patients in perinatal care units for over 26 years. As a Perinatal Administrator of 10 years, Lisa has directly supervised the safe care of approximately 60,000 maternal deliveries. Lisa has extensive knowledge related to perinatal clinical scenarios from personal participation as well as her education and experience as a Registered Nurse, Perinatal Clinical Educator, Perinatal Safety specialist, Manager of labor and delivery and post-partum, and as a Doctor of Nursing Practice. Lisa has extensive knowledge of the areas of women’s health to include antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum and newborn care. Lisa has comprehensive experience with perinatal quality high risk incidents to include OB hemorrhage, shoulder dystocia, obstetrical triage, preeclampsia and eclampsia, placental abruption, uterine rupture, anaphylactoid syndrome, cesarean sections, category II and III fetal monitor strips, DVT/PE, vacuum extraction, code white, magnesium sulfate complications septic shock, etc.

Dr. Lynch began her nursing career as a Medical Surgical Nurse and later found her niche in the operating room. She has grown her expertise as a surgical nurse, quality representative, educator, RNFA, mentor and nurse leader in management. She expanded her knowledge and experience in the areas of Endoscopy, Preadmission, Pre and Postoperative Care and Sterile Processing area.
She worked in numerous perioperative leadership roles. Dr. Lynch works at Penn Medicine Chester County Hospital as Director of Surgical Services. She serves on numerous professional associations. She is the current AORN local chapter president and served as chair on AORN Guideline Advisory Board. She has presented at national and local conferences as well as presented award-winning posters and authored publications. Topics include collaborative relationships between mentor and student, perioperative normothermia, OR attire, sharp injuries, surgical counts, specimen handling, effective handoff, and error prevention in the operating room. She conducted qualitative research of newly qualified RNFAs who transitioned to the OR and received a research grant to fund her research. She was the recipient of the Pennsylvania Nightingale Award for Education in 2014.
Dr. Lynch has numerous years of experience with regulatory issues, quality and safety, evidence-based care, and nursing administration. Dr. Lynch works as a Legal Nurse Consultant for 14 years as an independent contractor.
